Moreover, Liverpool aren’t definitely going to take part in the champions League next season. In the latest matches they outplayed West Bromwich, Watford and West Ham, lost to Crystal Palace at home and drew Southampton. As a result, with 73 points gained Liverpool are on the 4th place in the standings and their rivals Arsenal are right behind them one point below.
As for Middlesbrough, they are definitely going to leave the English Premier League after the end of the current season. Even though they made a few changes during the transfer window, they still didn’t manage to show any positive results in the current season as they have a lot of serious problems in attack. Middlesbrough still had chances to take a safe position in the standings and yet they lost to the middle-peasants. They had almost no chances to win against the leaders either.
The teams have already played five games against each other since 2008. Liverpool won three of these games and they drew once while Middlesbrough won once and the teams drew once. Liverpool are still very motivated and to keep their position in the Champions League zone.
