Trinidad and Tobago government intends to protect people with ludomania

Striving to protect problem players from themselves, the government proposed the creation of a self-exclusion program, in which any person who is registered in gambling can be excluded for violating the rules.

People who place their names on the list also waive their right to withdraw any winnings or recover damages from any gambling activity in the gambling establishment for the period of the exclusion period.

The minimum duration of the exemption period is six months and includes the possibility of extending for a lifetime.

For some, this may seem like a harsh measure, but experts say, that working with people who are trying to overcome addiction to gambling are the types of initiatives that need to be taken to help those who want to defeat the addiction.
