Scots want to ban betting advertising on TV

Scottish activists intend to achieve advertising ban of gambling and sports betting in particular following the examples of historical past.

In 1965, approximately 53 years ago, the Scottish government banned cigarette advertising on television. Nowadays, the activists demand to ban the advertising of betting, casino and other gambling.

Steve Barnett from Gargunnok notes, that football leagues and clubs are often partners of bookmaking companies, through which they appear on television. Thus, he reckons, that cooperation of sporting organizations and gambling is unacceptable, as it promotes the motivation for betting in population.
