India’s new tax puts lottery market profitability under threat

Lawmakers from the state of Kerala are concerned about the new tax on products and services in the country. According to the Minister of Finance Thomas Isaac, the tax will affect the lottery market income, which currently generates $592,9 million a year.

Apart from that, the Minister of Finance noted, that the tax may cause Sikkim and Bhutan states to regain the right on operating the lottery. Lottery sector is currently prohibited in these regions because of the previously revealed gaming violations.

Isaac has urged lottery agents and sellers to present the government with global petition with demand to prevent lottery activity development in these countries. The Minister has also other offered concerned sides to support the matter.
