Geographical neighbors Farul and Sheriff will face off in the first round match of the Champions League qualification.

For the first time in many years, Farul became the champion of Romania, but its pre-season results are frankly not impressive. Having beaten Iasi Polytechnic 1:0, the White-Blues relaxed and misfired in duels with Brasov (1:1), Pogon (1:2), Banik (0:5), Warta Poznań (0:3) and Shepshi (0:1).

But Sheriff rested for a whole month and enjoyed yet another triumph in the championship of Moldova. Tiraspol finished it with successful games with Petrocub (1:0), Zimbru (0:0), Sfintul (2:0) and Milsami (4:0), after which they defeated Balti (1:0) in the final of the Country Cup.

In this case, the bookmakers have more faith in the hosts, but we wouldn't underestimate Sheriff, who has a colossal European Cup experience. Our prediction: the guests are quite capable of clinging to at least a draw.
