Derby County vs Brentford Prediction 3 February 2018

Tournament: Football League Championship
Location: iPro Stadium
Match date: 03.02.2018 at 15:00

On February 3 2018 at 15:00 in the English Football League Championship 30th game week at the iPro Stadium in Derby the local Derby County are playing against their guests Brentford.

It seems to us that the champions of the Football League Championship are almost obvious as the Wolves are already 11 points above their closest rivals. Yet, there will be really dramatic fight for the second position which lets the team go directly to the Premier League. Derby County are one of the teams in the race for that second position. They are on the second position now and yet they are directly followed by a group of four teams and there are Aston Villa, Cardiff City, Bristol City and Fulham. All of them are waiting for a mistake of Derby to move them from the second place. Derby haven’t won for two matches already. They didn’t manage to outplay their direct competitors Bristol at home and after that didn’t manage to win against Millwall, who are rather strong at home. The mistake in the next match may cost Derby the second place in the standings and that’s why they will be extremely motivated this time.

Derby County look rather strong in their home games as they didn’t lose even once in their latest five home matches while they won three times. In general, they have won eight times in their 14 matches in the national championship while they only lost three times with 22:9 goal differences. There are no teams in the national championship which conceded less goals compared to Derby at home.

As for Brentford, they, in their turn, are known to be the middle-peasants of the Football League Championship. In the previous season they took the 10th position and this season they are on the 11th place in the standings. Of course, they are just 5 points below the 6th position in the promotion play-offs zone and they have their chances to try and fight for promotion but still we don’t really believe they will.

Moreover, they are by far in rather poor conditions as they only won twice in their latest five games while they lost three times. They outplayed Bolton and Reading who are or will soon be the outsiders of the league. They also lost to Norwich at home and this result is just hard to believe. Moreover, they were kicked-off form the national cup by Nots County.

It’s really difficult for Brentford to play in their away matches as they lose almost every second match they played. They have already met Wolverhampton, Cardiff and Aston Villa from the top six in their away matches and they only gained one single point in those three matches and the drew Villa. In their latest six away games Brentford lost three times and won twice.

It seems to us that the hosts are very likely to be extremely motivated in the upcoming match and they will probably manage to outplay Brentford as they are now.
