Southampton F.C. vs Manchester City F.C. Prediction 11 January 2023

Southampton, who are experiencing hard times, will host Manchester City in the last chronological match of the League Cup last 16.

Six consecutive fiascos against Crystal Palace (0-1), Newcastle (1-4), Liverpool (1-3), Brighton (1-3), Fulham (1-2) and Nottingham (0-1) pushed Southampton to the very bottom of the Premier League standings. However, the Saints perform much better in the League Cup, as evidenced by their triumphs over Cambridge (3-0), Sheffield Wednesday (2-1) and Lincoln (2-1).

Manchester City were much less lucky with the lot, which did not prevent them from dealing with Chelsea (2-0) and Liverpool (3-2). Already in 2023, the Cityzens defeated the unfortunate Chelsea twice more (2-0, 4:0), thanks to which they have reinforced themselves in the second position of the Premier League and advanced to the FA Cup round of 32.

Today's Southampton are so weak that, even playing with a non-main team, Manchester City have a good chance to decide the fate of this meeting in the first half of the game.
