Juventus refused Boateng

Juventus Turin decided to refuse the purchase of Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich, in spite of Giorgio Chiellini’s injury.

Juventus Turin intended to sign one of the main central defenders of Bayern last summer. Despite lengthy negotiations, no agreement between the clubs was ever reached. The naturalized German had to come to Allianz Stadium as a safety net for central defenders. The deal could have become extremely timely, considering anterior cruciate ligament injury in Giorgio Chiellini.

The Italian got injured during a training and presumably dropped out for six months. Therefore, the team newcomer Matthijs de Ligt has got an opportunity to claim himself in the line-up, thus calming down the Netherlands national team head coach Ronald Koeman, who announced the defender’s call-up to the national team only with him having gaming practice.

Returning to Chiellini’s replacement, the Old Lady also considered options with the purchase of Dejan Lovren, Shkodran Mustafi or the return of Medhi Benatia, who left the club in January this year for Al-Duhail. In the new season, Chiellini brought Juventus three points in the debut round against Parma, scoring the only goal.

As for Boateng, it is unprofitable to stay in Munich for the central defender, because his time is already running out. Last season, he spent 28 matches for the world record holder, distinguishing himself in only two assists. The departure of Hummels played a role on the decisions of Niko Kovac, but the young manager in the triumphal match against Mainz released Süle and Lucas, and Boateng sat the whole match on the bench, as well as in the match against Hertha, and Jerome was completely out of the squad for the game with Schalke.

Juventus would become a liferaft for the 31-year-old defender, who has recently remained outside the main team. Bayern are changing based on current trends, as last year's fiasco at Allianz Arena in a match with Liverpool forced the club to give more freedom to Niko Kovac. Because of this, Pavard and Lucas, as well as Coutinho, joined the champions of Germany to add more creativity in the attack. The club is moving in the right direction, and it’s time for Boateng to ponder his future, as well as Juventus, which can noticeably defend without Chiellini.
