Szczęsny considers himself the best in the world

Juventus Turin goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny gave an interview, I which he argued why he considers himself the best goalkeeper in the world.

In the summer of 2017, the Polish goalkeeper moved to Juventus from Roma, where he was the main goalkeeper during two seasons. However, in the Old Lady’s camp he was only a substitute for Gianluigi Buffon. When the Italian left Turin last summer, having moved to Paris, the Pole took his place in the goal and did not return him the number one even after the veteran’s return.

In an interview, the goalkeeper gave ahead of the Euro 2020 qualification, where the Poland national team met with Slovenia, he stated,

“When I performed at Roma, my substitute was the best goalkeeper in the world, Alisson, who is currently at Liverpool. Right now, at Juve, my replacement is one of the greatest players in history, Buffon. As a result, I am, probably, the best goalkeepers in history, Buffon. If serious, an additional year of work with Gigi is an invaluable experience. I am glad that he is back.”

This is a good decision for Juventus and for me it is an opportunity to train with him, talk, observe him, exchange knowledge. You have to be very stupid no to take advantage of that chance.”

After two rounds of Serie A, Juventus gained six points, having outplayed Parma in the first round (1:0), and later the main opponents in the battle for Scudetto of the recent years, Napoli, (4:3). Szczęsny played two matches out of four in the national team of Poland in the Euro 2020 qualification, kept his goal shut both times and helped the team maximum amount of points.

Szczęsny has good characteristics for a goalkeeper. He has a great gaming experience on a high level due to his performance at Arsenal and Roma, as well as skills of choosing position and game on the goal line. Sometimes he lacks skillfulness, when playing with dead balls, but it is nullified by the tall defense of the Old Lady. Although, after Chiellini’s injury one can expect that Juventus will have more conceded goals unlike previous seasons.
