Juventus need Ronaldo for longer

Turinian Juventus are considering an option of contract extension with Cristiano Ronaldo.

One of Serie A leaders and the winners of the last eight Scudettos Juventus intends to extend the contract of the club’s Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. The current agreement of the Manchester United and real Madrid former player is designed until 2022 and it seems to little for the club.

According to the information of Corriere dello Sport edition the Turinians appreciate the Portuguese’s work and therefore want to encourage him with a new contract despite the fact he will turn 35 years old in February. This season Ronaldo is noticeably falling behind in the goalscorers race, as Juventus began scoring less under Maurizio Sarri and has to pay more attention to defense, which is experiencing restructuring period.

Nevertheless, Ronaldo uses his skills in full capacity, shifting from a left winger position to a forward position, which helps him tolerate aging and loss of starting speed less noticeably.

The five-time Ballon D’or and the Champions League cup winner moved from Real to Junvetus in 2018 for 112 million euros and this season he scored 12 goals in 21 matches in all tournaments. But after a victory in the Nations League with Portugal he lost his first final for the past 13 times. That happened in the Italian Super Cup, where Lazio for the second time this season defeated Juventus, having become a real kryptonite for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

On the other hand, Ronaldo’s transfer, in spite of its sum, paid off long time ago and thanks to that the club has got into a great profit from the marketing point of view. Therefore, the extension of the contract may be even more financial in nature than gaming. The player and the club understand that very well, so they are likely to take such a step despite the fact that even in 2022 the Portuguese will be 37 years old and his condition is unlikely to be enough for a big victory.
