Roma look for replacement for Zaniolo

Roma player Nicolo Zaniolo has dropped out for an indefinite term and is looking for his replacement, considering even the boldest options.

Nicolo Zaniolo has dropped out for a term from four to six months because of anterior cruciate ligament injury in the match with Juventus from Turin after a collision with Adrien Rabiot and Matthijs de Ligt. The player could leave the pitch by himself and went to the locker-room with tears in his eyes. This season the footballer is unlikely be back on the pitch, which also can be a reason to miss the European championship, to which the national team of Italy qualified from the first place in the group.

Now the Romans have to look for Zaniolo’s replacement. It’s a good thing that the incident happened during the winter transfer window and the Wolves still have time. One of the first candidates to replace Nicolo is Xherdan Shaqiri from Liverpool. The Swiss mainly comes out in the last minutes of matches and has spent this season only ten games in all tournaments for the Reds. Shaqiri appeared in only three matches from the very first minutes, he scored one goal and missed a part of the season due to injury. However, Liverpool sees perspective in Shaqiri and did not let go Mohamed Salah’s replacement even on loan to secure themselves from such an outcome, as has happened to Roma.

The Romans shifted to Udinese winger Rodrigo De Paul, Inter player Matteo Politano and Milan halfback Suso. Roma representatives have already contacted the latter, but the final decision was not made. This season, De Paul has participated in 16 matches with four goals and one assist. Politano has appeared on the pitch in 15 games, but was not noted for efficient action, and Suso has spent 16 matches, the same as a De Paul, scored one goal and made two assists.

De Paul looks the best from the three contenders, who is younger than his competitors. Whereas Udinese are asking for him 35 million euros, which is clearly affordable for the Roman Roma, having enough funds to strengthen the squad to fight for the Champions League zone.
