Wenger: Liverpool are champions to everyone

London Arsenal former manager Arsene Wenger shared his opinion regarding Liverpool’s game should be evaluated this season until the end of the championship.

Merseyside Liverpool went without defeats for 27 rounds in the Premier League. It seemed that Jurgen Klopp’s team will become the next side following Arsenal of 2004 to raise the Premier League Golden Cup over its head. But a defeat against Watford shattered the Reds fans’ dreams and the suspension of the championship almost caused an infarction, as even a regular championship title for the first time in 30 years can slip away from the team.

Nevertheless, the Gunners’ former manager Arsene Wenger urged not to worry regarding official decisions, as in his opinion, Liverpool’s league title will not go anywhere,

“Jurgen has done a great job, because Liverpool has been waiting for this trophy for 30 years. And when you think about it, they have such a big handicap over the second team, Manchester City… Twenty five points, it’s just a massive handicap.

In spite of what will be decided in England, I think to everyone, Liverool are the champions,” Wenger stated.

Liverpool could have set the record straight regarding the league title on 5th April in a head-to head encounter with Manchester City. The Reds’ victory would give the Premier League title ahead of time, having gained the handicap of 28 points despite the fact that the Citizens would still have another nine matches. Therefore, the Citizens wouldn’t have even mathematical chances to return to the top of the league.

However, right now the situation is quite difficult and the Merseysiders have to hope that England will follow Germany’s example and resume the championship in the middle of June, as it was planned before. At the very least, UEFA recommendations favor that and the short-term rule changes with substitutes, the amount of which were increased to five. Considering these factors, one can confidently expect the resumption of the Premier League season, Liverpool’s title and the absence of the fans’ celebration due to quarantine. Yes, the 30-year absence of the trophy will have to be paid too big of a price for, but it is incomparable to human lives. Liverpool know it better than anyone.
