Juventus beat Barcelona

Juventus Turin beat Barcelona thanks to the exchange of Arthur on Pjanic with surcharge.

When Brazilian Arthur moved to Catalonia from Gremio in 2018, he was considered a replacement for Andres Iniesta. The halfback started well, but further injuries knocked him out of a rut and he did not manage to play under neither Ernesto Valverde nor Quique Setien.

Nevertheless, the midfielder’s potential can be seen with a naked eye. The guy sees the pitch perfectly and with good practice he will be able to become a key figure at Juventus. The only paradox is that Barcelona exchanged him for 30-year old Miralem Pjanic, who performed a conditional role of Busquets at Juventus. This raises a lot of questions as Barca purchased Frenkie de Jong from Ajax for a decent sum so he would replace one of the best Blaugranas defensive midfielders.

Pjanic was evaluated by Juventus in 60 million euros and Arthur in 75 million. This way, the Zebras will overpay 15 million euros net worth, plus additional bonuses. But even with this calculation, the deal for Andrea Agnelli seems very profitable. The Old Signora will not be so dependable on toxic Adrien Rabiot and will be able to sell him quicker, the club will also refresh the roster and will be able to improve dynamics in the midfield, which Sarri is extremely lacking right now.

If you look at it, Sarri needs a creative guy in the midfield, like Jorginho was for him previously. Although Arthur is not that good at tackles, but he will be able to be creative and drag the ball forward without problems. In spite of the fact that the player himself did not want to leave Barcelona, Dani Alves managed to convince him, who at the end of his career made the same transfer and also played in the Champions League final under the management of Massimiliano Allegri.

Given all of the above, one can summarize that Juventus profited from the deal a lot more and the difference of 15 million euros will pay off with interest. Another thing is that Alves may have chronical injuries the Catalans where silent about. But even in this case there is a very strong base of rehabilitologists in Turin.
