Lucescu headed Dynamo Kyiv

Shakhtar Donetsk former manager Mircea Lucescu took over Dynamo Kyiv.

The Romanian manager worked at Shakhtar for 12 years and during this time he built a team out of the Coal-miners, capable to equally compete with Dynamo and even surpass them. Apart from numerous championship titles, national cups and super cups, in 2009 Lucescu won with Shakhtar the last of its kind UEFA cup, later renamed into the Europa League.

Mircea then went to Zenit, where he was spent only one season and is remembered only by the Russian Super Cup victory. The last place of work for the 74-year old manager was the national team of Turkey, where he also couldn’t boast positive results. With the national team he took the third place in the Nations League group and the Turks were relegated to the League C.

Despite the fact that there is a direct conflict of interests in Lucescu’s arrival to Dynamo Kyiv head coach post, the Romanian’s results haven’t been too pleasant in the recent years. But everyone remembers Mircea in Ukraine as a complaining manager even before Jose Mourinho started doing that. Nevertheless, the coach right now speaks extremely positively about the new place of work,

“I believe that people will be happy with my work here, just like the results, which I will achieve as the head of Dynamo. I am grateful for the trust in me by the president of the club and also supporters, who trust me with the team with such great traditions,” Lucescu said.

Let us remind you that after the departure of Serhiy Rebrov, Dynamo has not achieved great success. Only victories in the cup and the super cup of Ukraine can be considered a success, but the Kyivans forgot what is a Champions League group stage and did not even advance from the Europa League group stage in the European cups.

It will be extremely difficult for Lucescu in Kyiv, considering how stingy and pragmatic the president of Dynamo Ihor Surkis is called. At the same time, the club management showed its helplessness confessed to its own incompetence, having invited the former biggest rival of all the fans to train their favorite team.
