Conte’s hard luck at Inter

Antonio Conte bared his soul having told how hard it is for him at Milan.

Looking at Serie A tournament table post factum one can be a little surprised that the gap between Inter and Juventus is only one point. This has not happened for decades, but in the context the evaluation of strength differs radically. Juventus won Scudetto two rounds before the end of the tournament and after that he lost the remaining two matches. But it is already noticeable that the Old Lady don’t progress and because of that they let the competitors approach to a very close distance and a risking to pay for this in the near future.

But at the same time, Antonio Conte tries to shift the press attention to his own problems at the club and to bad relations with Inter management. He supported his indignation with the following words,

“For me personally it was extremely difficult season. I don’t think that our problem with the players was properly acknowledged. We all received very little help from the club.

My problem is that I have my own vision. I see what path we should go and what to do. The other day I saw Spalletti’s interview, which he gave in 2017, being Inter manager. Now is 2020 and nothing has changed.

I can be a lightning rod for the first season, but if you don’t learn and keep making the same mistakes, then this is madness. Whereas I want to point out: I don’t mean the transfer market and the players,” Conte said.

This situation reminds me Milan’s experience a lot after the arrival of the Asian investors. They thought that sending once and buying one and a half squads in one transfer window, you can immediately become champions. Whereas work in management has not been conducted, the position of sports director was not taken into account, and the coach's opinions did not matter.

Conte, despite his hot temper and eccentricity, has a chance to compete for the championship title and show himself well in European competitions. But to do this, he needs to improve the roster, removing unnecessary players from it, like Alexis Sanchez, and get the support of the management. If the president does not have enough time to manage, then he needs to hire an experienced CEO, delegating authority.

Otherwise, Inter run the risk of falling into the same hole as Milan, when the management sets super-scale tasks, but does not know how to lead the process due to a lack of understanding of the basic rules of football management. In this regard, the Milanese need a conditional Peter Moore, with whom Liverpool have achieved victories in the past three years, and now he has left his post. By the way, they recently appointed Alessandro Antonello to this position. We will monitor the situation in the club and see if the Snakes will turn into dragons or will remain a snake offspring.
