Barcelona want to sign Depay

Catalan Barcelona intend to purchase Memphis Depay by the end of the current week.

Depay successfully reanimated his career by moving to Lyon, France. Together with his club, he got into the Champions League semi-finals and was extremely useful on counterattacks. The Dutchman is a winger in his role, but at Lyon he plays along the entire front of the attack during the restructurings of Rudi Garcia.

According to the news, Depay has already agreed on the terms of a personal contract with the Catalan club. His former coach for the Netherlands national team Ronald Koeman is interested in the player and sees him as a replacement for the outgoing Luis Suarez. The footballer's contract expires next summer.

This transfer seems farfetched to me. Despite the fact that a player may have a good relationship with the manager, I see no place for him at Barcelona. Memphis is not a center forward. For most of his career, he played on the wing of attack or under the striker, which is Dembele at Lyon. When paired, they combined technique and physical strength along with speed. Therefore, it is more logical to compare Depay with Antoine Griezmann than with Suarez.

Philippe Coutinho is left to play on the wing, as he returned from Bayern and is not going to leave, as was announced not so long ago. Another question: according to what formation is Koeman going to build the game? If he intends to restructure Barcelona with 4-4-2 or 3-4-3, then the transfer may look logical, but in this case the club does not need Griezmann.

But as for me, it would be beneficial for Barcelona to sign Moussa Dembele from Lyon. He is only 24 years old, he is tall, fast and perfectly covers the ball with his body. In terms of replacing Suarez - you can't think of a better replacement at the moment. In addition, Blaugranas have enough French compatriots, and he will find a common language with them on the field. Another thing is that the transfer will cost Barca dearly, since the striker joined Lyon just two years ago.
