Sevilla did not win themselves Super Cup

Bayern Munich beat Sevilla 2:1 in the UEFA Super Cup to win their fourth cup this year.

I would like to start with the fact that from the first minutes Bayern seized the initiative in possession of the ball and due to the technique of their players, rarely allowed their opponents to keep the ball on their feet. Therefore, it is not surprising that the nominal guests had high hopes for their main weapon, counterattacks.

One of them ended with a penalty kick against Manuel Neuer, who was successfully converted by Lucas Ocampos. True, after just 20 minutes, Goretzka restored parity, scoring a goal after a pass by Robert Lewandowski.

After the teams quickly exchanged goals, Sevilla narrowed the defensive line. Wing-backs Navas and Escudero defended at best on the edge of the penalty area, thereby freeing up the wings for Sane and Gnabry. The latter did not lose the opportunity to get into the penalty area, but the defenders interfered with shots and crosses, plus an offside, then Bonu once again was full of reliability.

In the second half, Julen Lopetegui decided to twist his team's counterattacking spring. He substituted de Jong for En-Nesyri and then released Oliver Torres to replace Rakitic. This gave a result, since Bayern could not create anything dangerous in the other half due to the saturation of the downed Sevilla players. True, the Spanish team's counterattacks have become extremely rare.

When Bayern tried with to crush the enemy all its might, a field of free space appeared in front of Neuer. I think everyone remembers not the best defensive abilities of the red German machine. So it happened at the end of the game, when En-Nesyri jumped out to a rendezvous with Neuer and the latter outplayed the striker, not allowing him to take the Super Cup.

In the extra time, it was clear that Bayern were better prepared physically and would take the title for themselves if Bonu did not perform miracles. Alfonso Davis and Javi Martinez came out to finally crush the opponents. Martinez did it. He took advantage of the mistake of the Sevilla goalkeeper, where he had to knock the ball out of the way with his fists and shoot the ball with his head into an empty corner.

The outcome of the match is fair, as Bayern looked better and created three times more chances than their opponents. Sevilla could have created a sensation and won in the end of the match, but missed the opportunity to write their name in history. Therefore, the men from Munich deservedly celebrate the Quadruple. And Hans-Dieter Flick proved that on October 1st, the title of coach of the year should not escape him.
