Guardiola: I would like to stay

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola told about his prospects in the Albion.

The Spaniard has been coaching Manchester City since 2016 and has not won anything other than domestic trophies in four seasons. The biggest accomplishment for Guardiola outside of England was the Champions League quarter-finals only. Therefore, it is logical that at the end of the last rally, the question of the need for Pep as the head coach of the Cityzens was actualized.

But the management did not make any rush decisions, despite the lack of results in the international arena, and gave him the right to work the contract to the end. The Spaniard's agreement with the club will expire after next season and this year will be the final test of professional fitness for the coach,

“I would like to stay here. I love this place but I have to deserve a new contract. The club achieved high standards for the past ten years, but they must be maintained.

The management did not talk to me on the matter, they told me to play football. But I know the standards of this club. If I don’t meet those, then probably I don’t deserve a new agreement. To extend the contract, I have to win.”

Last season, Manchester City won only the FA Super Cup and the English League Cup, which are not highly cherished by coaches, management, or fans. The championship was lost to Liverpool, and the cup to Arsenal. A revolution is coming from new ideas in the English league. Frank Lampard, Jurgen Klopp, Mikel Arteta, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Brendan Rogers with Marcelo Bielsa are able to compete with each other for a place in Europe.

Therefore, the season promises to be intense and with a high density at the top of the standings. Only Liverpool can be noted with stability, which so far have no problems either with the squad or with the game. Taking this into account, it will be extremely difficult for the Cityzens to compete for all the trophies, and for Guardiola to get himself a continuation of the contract.
