Koeman compared Dembele and Fati

The head coach of Catalan Barcelona, Ronald Koeman, compared two wingers Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele.

In the summer of 2017, Ousmane Dembele joined Barcelona as Neymar's replacement. But he never replaced the Brazilian, and played only 52 league matches in these three years, in which he scored 12 goals. The result is not very positive, given the style of play of the Catalan club and the position of the player on the field.

Dembele was constantly worried about injuries, as well as problems with discipline, as noted by Ernesto Valverde, Quique Setien and Ronald Koeman, who are not particularly satisfied with the work of the Frenchman in training, preferring Ansu Fati to him,

If Pedri comes out, it's because he deserves it with his work. Trincao deserves to play too. Dembele is a deeper player. At the moment he is a Barça footballer and it depends on the player's mindset. I haven't spoken to him.

There is high competition ahead. Ansu Fati is ahead of Dembele. If someone is not happy, let him tell me, but I want people to be happy. If you don't want to be here, tell me. He didn't tell me anything. If a footballer doesn't tell me anything, he will have the opportunity to play,” Koeman said.

The winger's transfer value has dropped from €120 million to €56 million over the past year and a half, which is not surprising. Nevertheless, Dembele is only 23 years old and with the right approach his career can get a quantum leap. But the current situation shows that this is clearly not going to happen at Barcelona.

It seems to me that the most productive option for the player and the club would be to loan him out. Thus, Barcelona will be freed from salary payments and will significantly save the budget, and Ousmane himself will work with another coach, who clearly must be more strict and demanding than all Blaugranas managers before. But who wants to mess with a player who still behaves in an extremely childish way?

Dembele has two years of contract with Barça, so if the club does not decide to extend, the Frenchman will remain at Camp Nou for a maximum of another year, after which Blaugranas will try to knock out at least some compensation for his departure and sell to the first candidate that comes along.
