Krasnodar, Zenit and Dynamo Kyiv are out of the UCL play-offs

Two Russian and one Ukrainian giant have already said goodbye to the spring part of the Champions League this season.

Tuesday was darkened for Krasnodar, Zenit and Dynamo by the fact that all three teams lost their principled matches, and parallel games did not help them prolong the intrigue of their further participation in the tournament.

Russian Krasnodar were the first to say goodbye to the Champions League spring. Despite the Bulls responding to Rakitic's goal with Wanderson's goal, Sevilla snatched the victory in the last injury time minute with an accurate shot by Munir El Haddadi.

Krasnodar, as newcomers to the group stage of the Champions League, showed themselves well and frayed the nerves of competitors. In the first round, Musaev's players drew with Rennes, then lost to Chelsea in London, but with Sevilla there were all the chances to take at least two points. Away in Spain, the Bulls did not withhold the two-goal advantage, which once again confirms the lack of the Champions League experience in the young team, which Sevilla have more than enough.

Zenit and Dynamo Kyiv played 15 minutes after Krasnodar. And if the Kyivans held out the whole half with Barcelona without a goal conceded and looked good in defense, Zenit capitulated already in the third minute, conceding from the current Golden Boot winner Ciro Immobile. Dzyuba's goal sweetened the relegation pill a little, but did not affect the final result - 1:3.

And again, the St. Petersburg club finds itself in a situation when the top clubs did not play against it in the group, but the team lost its chances of getting out after the fourth match. The blue-white-blues lost to Borussia Dortmund, played at home with Lazio and screwed up in a duel with Brugge - 1:2. Both fans and management are already used to such results in the Champions League.

As for Dynamo, the Kyiv team made it to the group stage for the first time since the 2016/17 season. For the fans of the White-Blues it was a mixed feeling, since on the one hand - the hated former coach of Shakhtar Donetsk, on the other hand - good results, stable play and the first line in the championship. But Mircea Lucescu did not make the fans suffer for a long time.

Yes, Dynamo got into a difficult group with Barcelona and Juventus. In the first encounters with the giants, the men from Kyiv looked good, but did not take points at Camp Nou, despite the excellent departures in counterattacks. And at home they failed the second half and got four goals. More questions for the game of Dynamo against Ferencvaros. The Ukrainian team was leading before the break 2:0, but as in the case of Krasnodar, lost the lead. This has its own similarity not only in the situation, but also in the approach. Dynamo have not played in the Champions League for so long that they, like Krasnodar, need to go through this stage of building muscle on the skeleton anew. After all, even an experienced coach did not help in this matter.

I decided to combine all three clubs together only on the basis of similarity of results and overall failure. The situations are different, because Zenit from year to year cannot overcome itself and play from the position of "whatever" because of the abundance of funds present in the club. Krasnodar lack the confidence and experience to fight such mastodons in European competitions as Sevilla or Chelsea. And Dynamo became hostage to outbreaks of the coronavirus in the team and the long absence of the game at such a high level.
