Tuchel chooses defenders from Bundesliga

London’s Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel is looking for options to strengthen the defense of Bayern players.

Initially, it was about the possible transfer of Niklas Süle from Bayern to Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel liked the German back during his coaching career in Borussia. Now Süle, after an injury, has difficulty rolling into the process and often loses his position, which often leads to goals conceded by Bayern Munich.

In parallel, Chelsea are exploring the possibility of intercepting David Alaba from Real Madrid. The Austrian in recent years has entrenched in the position of a central defender, especially when Alfonso Davis blocked his way in Bayern on the left wing. Alaba lacks tactical knowledge and ability to read the game, but he makes up for it with his speed.

Alaba will be a free agent this summer, as the club did not want to fulfill the player's salary requirements. And so far, the only option for him was to move to Real, since Los Blancos are able to fill the financial requirements of the Austrian with interest. In addition, they need to replace Sergio Ramos, who only recently got off the operating table and may completely leave the club in the summer.

The third option for the Londoners is called Dayot Upamecano, but the demand for the Frenchman is so huge that Chelsea will have to struggle very hard with competitors. This does not negate the merit of the defender, but we do not really believe that the Chelsea management will allow Tuchel to turn such a cool transfer, leaving Bayern Munich out of work. Most likely, the clubs will agree among themselves that Chelsea will not go to Upamecano, and they will give them Süle.

In any case, Chelsea needs a refresher on the defensive, as Thiago Silva was injured, and it is not clear whether the club will renew the contract with him. The Londoners defended with dignity with Tuchel, conceding only one goal in the starting three games, and then thanks to Rüdiger. But with all due respect to Wolverhampton, Burnley, Tottenham and Sheffield United - in the current time period, these are not the teams that are capable of causing too much trouble for the defense. It will be much more interesting at the end of February, when the Pensioners will meet with Atletico, Manchester United, Everton, Leeds and Liverpool.
