Barton has been shortened his disqualification term for five months

Joey Barton’s year and a half ban for breaking the rules of betting on the Football Association jurisdiction matches has been shortened to thirteen months, the governing body claims.

The FA handed over Barton a ban and fined the former England national midfielder 30 thousand pounds sterling after he confessed of placing bets on 1260 football matches.

Later, Burnley football club terminated the contract with him, saying that his departure was caused by “obvious reasons”, considering that he would miss the whole upcoming season.

The revised ban means, that Barton will be allowed to play again starting the first of June next year and he will practically be 36 years old at the time.
