Van Gaal made the Netherlands history!

The Netherlands national team for the second time in its history reached the Final Four of the Nations League the other day! This success was made possible thanks to the fruitful work of a truly iconic coach, Louis van Gaal.

In the summer of 2021, Oranje failed at Euro 2020, having been unexpectedly eliminated in the round of 16 by the Czech Republic. Back then, the team was led by Frank de Boer, whom they decided to part ways with at the end of the cycle. Louis Van Gaal became the next coach of the Dutch national team, who in 2014 led them to the bronze medals of the World Cup.

The venerable specialist managed to complete the 2022 World Cup qualification in the first place in a group, where Turkey and Norway posed a serious danger. Moreover, both competitors were defeated with a total score of 8:1! Thus, Oranje are returning to the World Cup, since they missed it in 2018. And they approach this competition with a great mood, because the day before they triumphed in a very difficult group of the Nations League.

This competition became a success for van Gaal's team on the first game day already, when Belgium, No. 1 in the FIFA rankings, was defeated with a score of 4:1. Then there was delicious and productive football in duels with (2:1, 3:2) and Poland (2:2, 2:0), as well as a second win against the Belgians already at home - 1:0. It’s noteworthy that in the Oranje team, there is no clearly defined leader and scorer. Any player can excel in effective actions, and the 3-4-1-2 tactical formation is the main feature of the 71-year-old specialist.

Which, by the way, shares the first place with Dick Advocaat in terms of the number of victories at the helm of the Netherlands national team. Now there are 37 of them. At the World Cup in Qatar, the Oranjue got into a fairly simple group with Qatar, Ecuador and Senegal. Therefore, at the end of November, van Gaal will become the recordbreaker with the national team. We are sure that the experienced manager will also fight for victory in the tournament - according to bookmakers, the Netherlands are seventh in the honorary list of favorites. Along the way, he ended Belgium's 50-match scoring streak, which had lasted since the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.

It is already known that after the end of the 2022 World Cup, Louis van Gaal will end his coaching career. It was quite controversial, but the last touch is always remembered the best. Under the guidance of the coach, the Netherlands returned to the list of top teams and show their best football in the last five years. It seems that the embarrassment of not getting into Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup is a thing of the past - mentally, the Oranje are back on top.
