Milan to work on talent market?
England and Arsenal U-21 striker Folarin Balogun could join AC Milan in the next transfer window! Now the 21-year-old player plays for the French Ligue 1 representative Reims, where he is fighting for the title of the league top scorer.
Balogun is an Arsenal graduate and one of the most promising forwards of the last decade. Folarin's goalscoring qualities manifested at the age of 18, when he scored 25 goals in 15 matches for the Gunners’ youth team! At the start of the previous campaign, he played a couple of games for the Londoners’ first team, but in the second half of the season, Balogun defended the colors of Middlesbrough. The next loan on his path was Reims.
But it was there that the talent of the young striker was fully revealed. It's no joke, Balogun with 15 scoring shots is fifth in the top scorers’ race, just behind the great and terrible Kylian Mbappe! Reims have not lost in the league since mid-September (!) – now that’s what we call reinforcement with a real attack leader.
The Red and Whites will not be able to keep Balogun in the team - next summer he will definitely return to Arsenal, where he will experience the delights of competition against Jesus and Nketiah. The Gunners’ winter newcomer Trossard could also play as a centre-forward, so the 21-year-old has very vague career prospects at the Emirates.
It is possible that Milan, who are interested in the Reims striker, will still achieve their goal and sign Balogun on a permanent basis. Now the Rossoneri are experiencing problems in the front line, because veterans Giroud and Ibrahimovic can no longer maintain optimal conditions throughout the season. Divock Origi's summer transfer was a failure, Ante Rebic is just a mediocre player, and star Rafael Leao is likely to leave the ranks of the Rossoneri. So, after the probable departure of the Portuguese, Milan will just have the money to carry out a quality reinforcement of the squad.
For Folarin Balogun, the time has come to reach a new level, which is very difficult to do on constant loans. In the near future, Arsenal do not count on the talented striker, but they definitely will not stop Milan. Having bought the Englishman, the Rossoneri would receive a quality scorer for many years and would permanently register among the participants in the prestigious and profitable Champions League.
