Bookmakers are begging Theresa May to influence the government’s decision

Over 50 independent bookmaking companies have written to the Prime Minister Theresa May, begging her not to leave them behind by shortening the FOBT share to two pounds sterling.

The government claims, will shorten the maximum bet on the controversial machines, which according to the campaign participants, raising social problems, including gambling problems. In the months to come, a decision is going to be made regarding how big the reduction will be, with the options being £ 2, £ 20, £ 30 and £ 50.

In their letter, the bookmakers claim: “for the sum of £ 2, many of our family enterprises will be closed, our employees, including our own family members and all funds for the government and local councils will be lost. The consequences for our business will be simply catastrophic”.
