What is going to be with Fiorentina?

Instead of fans’ happy cheering at Italian stadiums the football society was shaken by tragic news on Sunday. In the morning of the 4th March the captain of Fiorentina from Florence Davide Astori passed away. As a result of that, the Italian Football Federation postponed indefinitely most matches of the 27th round.

In an official statement on the cause of death, the chief prosecutor of the city of Udine stated the following: “The main version is that the player died of cardiac arrest for natural reasons. It's strange that this could happen to a professional football player, who was constantly examined, but no visible problems were found...”

Astori’s death is certainly a great tragedy for the entire football society and it will definitely affect the matches of many teams. First of all, this will concern footballers who played under the same emblem with the Italian defender. One of those is Radja Nainggolan who after learning about the tragedy, will soon write in one of his social networks as follows: “A great player but even greater person… We have spent so many clashes together in Cagliari and later met in Roma… I still can’t believe it… My thoughts are with his family and loved ones… Rest in peace”.

However, the event will affect Fiorentina the most. Astori was the captain of the team from Florence and has become an integral part of the side within two years. When the championship resumes, perhaps, Stefano Pioli’s men will be extremely motivated and will work twice as hard.

Nevertheless, Astori’s passing is not only an event that will affect the psychological state of his teammates. Apart from that, it should be remembered, that he was a terrific central defender and because of that was called up to the national football team of Italy and spent there 14 matches. Considering the fact, that Fiorentina played by the 3-5-2 scheme, Pioli will now have to either change the disposition or put the reserves to the first squad. Because of these reasons, the team is destined to lose more than one point in the remaining matches of the championship.
