Brighton and Hove Albion are the best debutants of the season

In the wake of failed performances of the debutants in Serie A, where Benevento hadn’t gained a single point until the middle of the championship and SPAL are balancing in the relegation zone, the English Brighton and Hove Albion are demonstrating how to start in their very first season in a top-tier league.

The uncertain start with two defeats from Manchester City and Leicester soon changed with average results and Brighton steadily began to get out from the bottom of the English Premier League. No one considered Chris Hughton’s team as a possible fighter for the Europa League and no one said, that they will give battle to English mastodons for the Champions League. However, within the last ten matches, the Seagulls managed to achieve five victories with two draws, as well as advanced to the English Cup quarter-finals, where they will play against Manchester United.

Thanks to the lossless February, Brighton have occupied the 11th position in the EPL and also helped their head coach win “Manager of the Month” award. On their way, the Seagulls didn’t notice West Ham (3:1), Coventry City (3:1) and Swansea (4:1) as well as having a draw with Stoke City (1:1). The beginning of March for the team continued under the euphoria of positive results. Two goals by the 30th minute secured them a victory over London Arsenal (2:1).

Whereas the club is not overfilled with famous players. From Brighton’s squad only Tim Krul can be distinguished for the past achievements at the World Cup, when he helped the Netherlands advance to semi-finals. And also Leonardo Ulloa, who played for Leicester.

Brighton and Hove are exclusively coaching team. Chris Hughton managed to find the appropriate formation for his players and thanks to that, the teams plays on a decent level. The Irishman doesn’t mind putting two echelons of defense, playing by formations 4-4-2 or  4-4-1-1. Whereas the footballers swiftly move from defense into attack, where the lion’s share of goals is scored by the main forward and team’s veteran Glenn Murray together with Jose Izquierdo.

Albion have 34 points in the asset after 30 matches and the 11th position in the championship. The club is seven points away from both the seventh place and the relegation zone. Formidable rivals in the person of Manchester City, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool are ahead for the team and they are capable of taking away points from the Seagulls. However, with such an ambitious and experienced manager the EPL novices will fly to the finish line without their wings being hit in any case.
