Giggs begins his coaching career with a victory

The former Manchester United star has begun his managerial path with a victory. The new manager of the Wales national team managed to get a victory in the match against China.

The 2018 World Cup qualification turned out to be a failure for the Welsh. The European championship semi-finalists could not enter the two strongest teams of the group D, letting the national teams of Ireland and Serbia pass. The Wales football federation decided to sack Chris Coleman from the head coach post. The legendary half-back of Manchester United Ryan Giggs was appointed the new manager of the Dragons.

The Wales national team fans perceived Giggs’ arrival to the national team manager post with caution. The supporters were worried by the Welsh’s lack of motivation to play for the Dragons during his career as a footballer. For 16 years, Ryan played in 64 matches, while Bale has already overtook the famous countryman by the indicator by five games. Besides, the fans were confused, when at the age of 33 Giggs decided to end his performance for the national team, although he played for Manchester United until he was 40.

Giggs did nor rebuild the team and left all well-known performers, paying attention to young players. Liverpool’s young player Wilson, as well as Lockyer, Mepham and other players, performing in the Championship, were called-up for the national team.

Ahead of the match with China, Giggs claimed that he is worried about the debut:

“I will be very nervous in the debut game, because I am still a footballer at heart. I must confess, I haven’t had such a shiver for a long time. I understood, that being a manager is a bit harder, than being a player, but I didn’t prepare myself for such a psychological load. What a footballer must do? Complete the set goals. What a coach must do? Set the most correct goals. A coach constantly thinks, how to do better”.

However, the match went extremely successfully for the Welsh wizard, as the experience he received back in Manchester United, where he took out the Red Devils to play as an acting head coach before Louis van Gaal was appointed, and later joined the Dutchman’s staff. Therefore, Giggs began to “kill a footballer in himself” back in 2014 already. The Welsh crushed the national team of China, 0:6, and the goals were scored by Bale (hat-trick), Vokes (double) and Wilson.

Now the Wales manager will have to confirm his proficiency against more coherent squad in the final of the International China Cup, which will be the winner of the Uruguay – Czech Republic couple.
