Nagelsmann has once again brought Hoffenheim to the Champions League

The German Hoffenheim’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann has managed to occupy a place in the top four of Bundesliga for the second time and bring the team to the Champions League. This time the White-Blues defeated Borussia Dortmund, 3:1, in the last match of the championship and occupied the third position.

Nagelsmann has been the phenomenon of the German football since last season as he managed to help Hoffenheim occupy the fourth position when he was 29. However, he got Liverpool in the UCL qualification and got relegated to the Europa League. It was hard for the Germans to compete with the Merseysiders as Klopp and the team turned out to be a hard nut to crack not only for Hoffenheim, but for Manchester City and Roma and they will play in the Kyiv final of the most prestigious club tournament.

The UEFA has made reforms, because of which the first four teams of England, Germany, Italy and Spain will directly advance to the group stage. Therefore for Hoffenheim even the repetition of the last year’s result was an achievement. Nagelsmann brought the team bronze medals, having moved from the spot Borussia Dortmund, which is feverish this season due to managerial changes. Without changing the usual 3-4-3 formation, the 30-year old German overtook the Bumblebees, Bayer and Leipzig in the tournament table, who were considered main contenders on place in the top four.

The departure of Sandro Wagner, Jeremy Toljan, Fabian Schar, Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy in the first half of the season reflected on results of the team from Sinsheim. However, Nagelsmann managed to replace the footballers without damage. The manager continued to preach the attacking style and thanks to that Hoffenheim scored 66 goals this season, overtaking everyone except Bayern this season by the indicator. In the argument with the Bumblebees, one-goal advantage over Stoger’s team became decisive by the difference of scored and conceded goals.

The rumors about Nagelsmann’s transfer to a top club has been going for a year now, but the manager is not ready yet to move, as he claims himself, “I am not at all irritated by these talks. I am fully concentrated on myself and my team. The main attention is paid to Hoffenheim and no one else.”

Two clubs from the EPL claim the ambitious manager. Arsenal are ready to turn to the German, considering Arsene Wenger’s departure this summer. Chelsea are not satisfied with the fifth position in the championship and it’s no surprise, that Abramovich is looking to Sinsheim. However, the Blues have burnt themselves with young managers, amongst which are the UCL triumphant Roberto Di Matteo and unstable Andre Villas-Boas. It is favorable for Nagelsmann to remain in Hoffenheim in case he manages to keep the team’s backbone and strengthen the squad before the Champions League. However, the loaned Mark Uth from Schalke and Serge Gnabry from Bayern will leave this summer, therefore it is impractical for Nagelsmann to remain in Sinsheim.
