Russia keeps surprising supporters
After the defeats from Brazil and France, the Russia national team battled in a friendly match with the Austrians. The result did not surprise and Stanislav Cherchesov’s team lost minimally.
The winless streak of Russia national team has reached six matches and last time the team of the World Cup host won in October last year, defeating South Korea, 4:2. The Russians managed to get draws against Iran and Spain, but whereas they lost to the aforementioned national teams of Austria, France, Brazil and also Argentina.
The defeat is not the only fact, which fans and experts noticed. If majority has already gotten used to that, then the absence of shots on target against the Austrians must perplex the managerial staff and the footballers.
The national team goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev expressed his opinion after the match regarding the situation in it,
“Zero shots on target and a play under loads? Play under loads is an excuse. We must go out and win. The key word is play. It will be even harder at the World Cup.”
Stanislav Salamovich had the similar opinion. The manager claimed that he planned to give sixty minutes to the first squad players, while they still had strength and then make a rotation. Should it be said that for achievement of the result one should play for more than ninety minutes. The manager also stressed,
“We have to work over the last pass. The approaches that we have need to be logically concluded.
We can’t change something in our views because of one lost moment or pass. We watched the championship, training camp, the state of players on our hands. We will see how the footballers’ muscles will act. You see that Fernandes had it enough, as well as Golovin.”
Cherchesov has high hopes in Golovin, hoping that Aleksandr will become his savior in the stalemate situation with Igor Denisov, whom the manager simply doesn’t want to see in the national team. However, the champion of Russia this season rightfully deserves to be resent in the main team of the country. Obtaining the first pass, he manages the move from defense to attack. The Russia national team’s offense is cut off from the midfield, because of which the statistics speaks about the absence of shots on target even against the Austrians. What is there to say, if the White-Blue-Reds’ opponents at Mundial will be the swift Uruguay and Egypt.
