Chelsea are unloading the midfield

London Chelsea have exercised their right, which allows English clubs to let footballers go after the conclusion of the transfer window in the Albion. Tiemoue Bakayoko left the team for a season.

We have talked about how after Maurizio Sarri’s move to Chelsea, the Italian has excessive amount of central midfielders and that must be fixed. The former Napoli manager brought Jorginho to the club, whereas there already were Barkley, Fabregas, Kante, Bakayoko, Kovacic and Drinkwater. The Italian has set the priorities not in the Frenchman’s favor, who previously shined in Monaco, and Bakayoko will go on one-year loan to Milan.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport’s information, the loan also includes the buyout option of the half-back for 35 million euros, whereas the Pensioners will receive five million euros from the Frenchman’s voyage.

The last season passed by Bakayoko, as the purchased a year ago for 40 million euros player has not adapted to the English football. Therefore Tiemoue participated in 43 matches and scored three goals, having not become the player of the main roster for Conte. Sarri has similar opinion, who doesn’t see a place for the Frenchman in the squad. The first matches of the season for Chelsea showed that Kante and Jorginho will be the base in the midfield and time will tell, who will be the third one.

The loan to Milan is a step back for Bakayoko. Gennaro Gattuso’s team concedes to Chelsea by status, selection of performers and victories in tournaments for the past five years, however, for receiving stable gaming practice, this is a suitable option for him. The new American management of Rossoneri together with the sporting director Leonardo  made a deal with Juventus, having exchanged Bonucci for Higuain and Caldara. Therefore the team from San Siro has potential and the season will show, how Gattuso managed to build the play in the team and whether he manages to stay on the head coach post.
