Changes come to Juventus
Juventus Turin are considering Zinedine Zidane’s candidacy for the club’s general manager post instead of Beppe Marotta, who has held the position for the last eight years.
Beppe Marotta is a significant figure in Juventus’ history. Under his management I Bianconeri won seven titles for the past eight years, as well as four Coppa Italia, three Super Cups and qualified for the Champions League finals twice. The 61-year old acting general manager announced his departure earlier,
“It has been a memorable run of eight years. Juventus will always be in my heart.
I want to announce it right now, because on Monday a list of managers will be published and my name will not be in it.
I think, it would be right to tell about this now, while no one has made up another version. The management decided to conduct a serious restructuring.”
It is noteworthy that the main candidacy according to the Italian newspaper Tuttosport is Zinedine Zidane, who spent three and a half seasons at Real Madrid and won three Champions League cups. It is unclear how good the Frenchman is for the post. Besides him, his former teammate Pavel Nedved claims the post, who is familiar with Juventus’ structure, as well as Fabio Paratici and Michele Uva.
According to the British media, Manchester United got in touch with Zidane, who consider Real and Juventus ex-halfback for the head coach post. Despite ten points in seven matches the club denied the information, but as we know, there’s no smoke without fire. Mourinho considers leaving Old Trafford and footballers in the last match against West Ham showed with their inert performance that they are not keen to play for the Portuguese.
In any case Zidane acted smart, having finished the partnership with Real and was not in a rush to take over another club immediately.
