Pulisic chooses Chelsea

American midfielder of Borussia Dortmund Christian Pulisic will join London Chelsea next summer. The clubs have reached an agreement worth 64 million euros and this season the halfback will finish playing for the Black-and-Yellows on loan.

A few days earlier, Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri to in an interview to The Telegraph, which position in the team needs strengthening. The Italian claimed that he is not going to retrieve Batshuayi or Abraham from loan, as Eden Hazard plays successfully on the position of a center-forward.

One day later the London club confirmed the information regarding Pulisic’s transfer, which was also stated by the Dortmund club’s director for sport Michael Zorc,

“Christian has always dreamt of playing in the Premier League. This is definitely related to his American roots and as a result we couldn’t extend the contract with him.

For that reason we decided to accept Chelsea’s very profitable offer, as his contract expired soon [note: the agreement is designed until summer 2020].

The footballer will finish this season at Borussia, being on loan, and from the next season already he will perform at Stamford Bridge. Within four incomplete seasons at Borussia, Pulisic has spent 81 matches in the league, scored ten goals and made 16 assists. Last season, the average playing time of Christian on the football pitch per match was 72 minutes, while he has to compete in that with Gotze, Reus and Sancho. Because of that the American spends on the pitch 44 minutes per game on average.

The transfer to Chelsea is a quality leap in the halfback’s career. Considering his pace and technique, he looks lie Hazard, whose part he will have try on himself after the Belgian’s move to the forward position. Every top club in the EPL has got skillful wingers. Liverpool have Mane and Salah, Tottenham boast Dele Alli and Son and City have Sterling, Sane and Mahrez. Therefore, Chelsea’s move is understandable and logical and Pulisic has a great chance to prove himself on a more serious level.
