Sarri isn’t happy with players

After the defeat against Arsenal 0:2 in the latest match of the EPL, London Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri poured his anger on his footballers. The Italian isn’t satisfied with the players’ approach and intertness on the pitch in important matches.

In the 23rd round of the EPL, London Arsenal hosted Chelsea at Emirates. The hosts scored two goals in the first half with the effort of Lacazette and Coscielny, who decided the outcome of the match. Although Chelsea did possess the ball for 64% of the time, that did not reflect on the statistical data. Moreover, the Gunners skillfully took advantage of the counter-attacks, thanks to which they remained on the fifth place in the table and shortened the gap with the Pensioners to three points.

After the game, the Blues head coach Maurizio Sarri, who along with his team did not lose for more than ten matches in a row together with Manchester City and Liverpool burst into words of indignation against his own players. The Italian did not like the approach of his players and insufficient motivation, which is not the first time seen this season,

“I must say, that I am extremely mad with this loss. It is provoked by psychology. The opponents were charged more than we were. The same thing happened in the match with Tottenham. I talked to players and thought that the problem is solved.

I want to discuss tactics, but it seems that it is very difficult to motivate these players. When one player is charged much more than the other, there is no point discussing tactics. Throughout the game their mindset was much better than ours.

Why can’t I get that through to the team? It is difficult for me to answer that question. It seems that they are not enough aggressive psychologically. It is hard to change that, because it is personal.”

The problems inside Chelsea are obvious. Because of the confidence at the start of the season, the players try to waste less power in a match. Compared to the first game of the first half against the Gunners, Chelsea have seriously fallen behind. Sarri’s team still lacks center-forward and most of the teams in England have learnt to neutralize danger, which comes from Jorginho. Besides, the problem with Kante’s position is also seen. It is unusual for the Frenchman to join attacks, because of which Chelsea do not take full advantage of their roster, just like Hazard, who plays on the edge.

Manchester United and Arsenal have approached the fourth place, on which Chelsea are situated. The gap between them is three points and if Sarri doesn’t reconsider the model of the game, he risks leaving the team without he Champions League participation.
