Quagliarella is new phenomenon of Serie A

In the current season of Serie A, the newsmakers were not Cristiano Ronaldo or Milan’s new forward Piatek. The 35-year-old veteran Fabio Quagliarella impressed everyone with efficiency. The Italian, who played for Torino, Napoli, Juventus, Sampdoria and other clubs is leading the goalscorers race.

After 21 rounds of the Italian Serie A, the forward scored 16 goals and made four assists. Also, the veteran, who is going to be 36 in three days has scored throughout the last 11 matches, thus repeating the record of Gabriel Batistuta. The forward will be able to surpass the record in the next match of Serie A against Napoli already, which are on the second place.

Quagliarella himself is on emotional uplift because of the latest results, which he stated in an interview to Sky Sports Italia,

“It is unthinkable. I am overwhelmed with emotions, as I couldn’t have even imagined anything like that. Batistuta’s name itself gives chills.

In a few days I will be 36 years old; therefore I am proud of my achievement. I never thought that all my sacrifices in the past will help me achieve that.”

Serie A is considered heaven for aging quality players. Therefore, it is no surprise that Ronaldo chose Juventus as his next club. Four years ago the goalscorers race was led by 37-year-old Luca Toni, who performed for Verona back then. He shared the first place with Mauro Icardi, havins scored 22 goals for the season. Quagliarella is following the same footsteps.

It is obvious that the forward will not look for a new club and will remain at Sampdoria until the end, which he thought three years ago, when he moved to Genoa from Torino. In the remaining matches of the season the forward will be able to argue with Ronaldo, Zapata, Piatek and other contenders for the title. Sampdoria are on sixth place and even have chances on the Champions League, for that they need to overtake Roma and Milan, which are extremely unstable.
