In the latest round of the English Premier League Manchester City did not feel resistance from London Arsenal, having defeated the Gunners 3:1. Unai Emery’s team didn’t shoot once on Emerson’s goal in the second half and left Etihad with heads down.

In the first half, Manchester City had the upper hand, being the host team. However, before the break in the match, an equality was observed between the teams in shots and score on the table. Aguero opened the score in the match in the first attack of the Citizens and ten minutes later Koscielny responded with a goal after a cross from the corner.

However, problems in defense of Arsenal  manifested once again. Mustafi and Koscielny couldn’t keep up with Manchester City players, just like lateral Monreal and Lichtsteiner. The second goalof the hosts became a mockery, confirming the hypothesis about sluggishness and complete lack of defense in Arsenal. Sterling played the wall with a partner and passed the ball to an empty goal for Aguero, who made a brace.

In the second half the Argentine scored the third goal, not without the help of the hand; however, referee Atkinson did not see a foul and allowed the goal. The Gunners didn’t oppose anything to Guardiola’s team in the second half, looking even more helpless than in the lost match against Liverpool 5:1.

After the game, Guardiola expressed his opinion regarding the championship race in the EPL,

“We have to keep on winning, as City are under pressure. After the match in Newcastle, Liverpool were seven points ahead and now the gap is only two points. Of course, they still have to play against West Ham.”

In spite of shortening of the gap between Manchester City and Liverpool, bookmakers believe in the championship of the latter. The odds on the Reds’ triumph in the EPL for the first time in 29 years are 1.65, while the victory of the Citizens is evaluated as 2.40. Tottenham are with a big gap from the leaders being third with 21.0.
