Manolas went to Napoli

Roma sold Costas Manolas to Neapolitan Napoli, as the club still has not determined its vector of development.

Roman Roma continue having a fever. Last season the club fired the main causer of the team’s advancement to the Champions League semi-final, Eusebio Di Francesco because of unsatisfactory results in the league and the team’s elimination from the UCL round of 16. The Wolves did not advance to the Champions League and Claudio Ranieri came to rescue the team, but a few months later the Italian was also fired.

Roma made many mistakes last season and in the transfer policy. The arrival of the genius manager Ramon Monchi to the club only weakened the team with signing a number of unnecessary footballers, who did not become replacement for the departed Alisson and Salah. The legendary Francesco Totti left the club in the summer, who in the end poured some dirt on the management.

As a result, Roma appointed a new manager, Paulo Fonseca from Shakhtar, kicked out Nzonzi from the squad because he was late to the training camp and let one of their best defenders, Costas Manolas, go to Napoli. The Greek cost the Neapolitans 36 million euros with a salary of 4,5 million euros a year. Considering that Ancelotti regard the defensive line very carefully, Manolas will hardly become Koulibaly’s replacement.

Roma are in a deep crisis, where the management doesn’t want to understand a mechanism of building a football team. Fonseca will hardly be given a lot of options, but the conditions will be extremely transparent. Therefore, the Portuguese will have to try and get into top four with the resources he has in his first season. Against the strengthening Juventus and Napoli, modified Inter and perspective Atalanta and Lazio, Roma cannot expect an easy walk. The more interesting it will be for regular fans to observe the situation in 2019/20 Serie A season.
