Nicolas Pepe is expected at Liverpool

The French Lille winger is expected at Liverpool, but Everton are currently winning the race after Nicolas Pepe.

We recently wrote that the Merseyside Liverpool are showing interest in the main phenomenon of the last season in Ligue 1, Nicolas Pepe. Even the club president spoke about a possible transfer, noting a real possibility of the Ivorian’s transfer. However, respectable British newspaper The Telegraph informs that Pepe can be signed by Everton, not Liverpool.

The second-most popular team from the Merseyside kingdom considers Pepe one of Everton’s main transfer goals in the summer window. The Toffees are willing to put 59 million pounds on the negotiations table, which would set a new transfer record in the club. Last season the team from Liverpool finished on the eighth place and was left with an opportunity to participate in the European clubs.

At the same time, Lille with Pepe ended their season on the second place, having overtaken Lyon, Saint-Ettiene and Marseille in the tournament table. The winger himself spent most of the season on the forward position and thanks to that he scored 22 goals in the league. Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid previously expressed interest in the Ivorian, but the Mattressers signed Joao Felix since then and the Big Grass Snake turned to Romelu Lukaku. At the same time, Inter leave no attempts in pursuit of Pepe, having increased the initial offer of 60 million euros to 90 million.

Out of the contenders in person of Inter, Everton and Liverpool , the most preferable options are the first and the last clubs. At Everton he would clearly het a gaming practice, but in the league, where the main opponents, such as Chelsea, Man City, Man United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have much bigger resources, he can forget about playing in the Champions League. Liverpool is a good option for career continuation, but there is a big competition. Inter is the most preferable way for Pepe, considering that Antonio Conte came there, who knows how to play with wings, plus the participation in the Champions League.

At the same time, Pepe has to think through these options, being at the national team camp at the African Cup of Nations. Lille looks by no means worse than a conditional Inter; therefore, there is no point moving to another club immediately. The winger has a good chance to shine in the Champions League and then move to a top club without wasting too much time and strength.
