Ukrainian went to conquer Italy

The Ukraine national football team midfielder and the Belgian Genk ex-player, Ruslan Malinovskyi, signed a contract with Atalanta.

Malinovskyi began his football path at Shakhtar Donetsk school. However, later he moved to Zorya Kuhansk on loan agreement, where he made his first steps in adult football. Since 2016, the Ukrainian has been conquering Europe playing for the Belgian Genk, where he became one of the best playmakers of the championship, making assists and scoring free kicks.

This summer. Clubs from England and Italy closely followed Malinovskyi. There were talks about a transfer to Napoli, but competition in the future club played its part. Last season Malinovskyi scored 16 goals and made 16 assists in 51 matches, thus seriously drawing attention of the upcoming season’s Champions League participant and the bronze winner of Serie A, Atalanta.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Malinovskyi signed a five-year contract and the club paid around 14 million euros for him. In an interview after the deal completion, the player stated,

“I am happy to join this club with incredible supporters. The team performed well last season and I will try to help it perform even better next season. I hope, everything will be great.

I play on the position of the central midfielder, prefer performing on the position of number eight, or play the ten. I like to play quick football. I like the pace Atalanta plays and such a style suits me.”

According to the results of the last season, Atalanta will play in the Champions League. However, the club needed strengthening to save face in the most prestigious club tournament of the Old World. At the same time under Gasperini, the team had no problems in attack. The line of defense requires a separate breakdown, where nothing is all that good for the Black-and-Blues, as they would like to.

Malinovskyi through Andriy Shevchenko’s pitch has made a right choice. Amongst possible options which would promise him a bigger salary, his choice fell on a gradual development and a team which will give him opportunity and time on the pitch.
